Ruth Elizabeth ''Betsy'' Merriken Wilsey

March 4, 1933 — August 24, 2013

Ruth Elizabeth (Betsy) Merriken Wilsey, age 80, of Glen Arm, MD (a long time resident of Bel Air), passed away on August 24, 2013 at The Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Lee and Ruth Elizabeth Farr Merriken. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore and Wheaton College in Illinois. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a teacher for Baltimore City Schools. After her children were grown, she substituted regularly at Homestead – Wakefield Elementary School in Bel Air. Betsy was very active at First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air and enjoyed reading, Sudoku and other puzzles, sewing, cooking, the great outdoors, working with youth, and was a very thoughtful, generous and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Wilsey is survived by her husband, Edward Franklin Wilsey; sons, Edward Franklin Wilsey III and wife, Naoko, of Baltimore and William Lee Merriken Wilsey and wife, Hillary, of Oklahoma and Montana, daughter Ruth Wilsey Eisenhour and husband, Christopher, of Bel Air; sister Frances Merriken Hamilton and husband, Donald, of Macomb, IL; grandchildren, Jaira Summers Wilsey, McKinder Lee Wilsey and Austin Christopher Eisenhour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Women's Association.
