Ruth E. Viands

Ruth Viands, age 77, of Edgewood, MD passed away on December 3, 2012 at her home. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Marian Sparks Schmidt and wife, for 46 years, of the late William S. Viands. She had worked for Avon and Santoni's Market and was a member of the Elks Lodge, as well as, the former Chaplain for the Edgewood American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #487. She enjoyed visiting with friends in Florida, bowling, playing bingo and pinochle. She had traveled to various countries including Germany, Italy, London, cruised the Caribbean Islands and Alaska, and Las Vegas.

Mrs. Viands is survived by her sons, William A. Viands of Edgewood and Steve M. Viands of Bunnell, FL; daughters, Sherri A. Viands Mazza of Joppatowne and Lynn Viands Lehman of Baltimore; and grandsons, Jacob M. and Samuel W. Mazza. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Edgar Schmidt, Audrey Schmidt Dorman and Marian Schmidt Preston.
