Ruth Adelaide Ehrhardt

RUTH ADELAIDE EHRHARDT, age 89, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Aberdeen, died on November 10, 2006, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in New York City, NY, and raised in New Rochelle of Westchester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry George and Adelaide A. Diehl Steinmetz and the wife of the late Russell Ehrhardt. She was a homemaker. As a young woman, prior to her marriage in 1947, she did secretarial work for an oil company, as well as, the Girl Scouts of America in New York City. In her youth she enjoyed playing softball, swimming, and boating on the Long Island Sound. She was an ardent Christian Scientist and an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, and reading.

Mrs. Ehrhardt is survived by one son, Wesley Russell Ehrhardt of Elkton, MD; one daughter, Sandra Ruth Evans, and her husband Edward S. Evans, Jr., of Bel Air, MD; one brother, John A. Steinmetz of Sleepy Hollow, NY; two grandchildren, Tracey Evans Dessain, and her husband, Scott, of Wynnewood, PA, and Edward S. Evans III and his wife, Melissa, of Newark, DE; and four great-grandchildren, Carly Dessain and Jena Dessain, both of Wynnewood, PA, and Dylan Evans and Bailey Evans, both of Newark, DE.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ehrhardt was predeceased by two brothers; Henry G. Steinmetz and Warren H. Steinmetz.
