Ruby Viola Maines, age 85, of Darlington, MD, died on July 2, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Helton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William Calvin Childers and Ida Frances Blevins Childers. She worked at Bata Shoe Company before working at Murphy's and Woolworths for 26 years as a cashier. She was a charter member of Welcome Home Baptist Church in Bel Air, the only living charter member other than her husband.
Mrs. Maines is survived by her husband of 68 years, Herbert Ray Maines of Darlington, MD; daughters, Shirley Linkous of Fallston, MD, Betty Buettner of Edgewood, MD and Patricia Mangold of Elkton, MD; brothers, Melvin Childers of Havre de Grace, MD and Dale Childers of Manchana, TX; sister, Ola Aten of Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Rev. Kermit Childers and Harrison Childers, and her sister Bertha Martin.
Pallbearers were Ed Bauguess, Mike Bauguess, Chris Globisch, Adam Meinhardt, Mike Rogers, and Todd Simone.
