ROY G. ELLIOTT, age 79, of Darlington, MD, died on May 25, 2007 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD. Born on March 28, 1928 in Glenville, MD, he was the son of the late Other Clarence and Georgia Belle Mabes Elliottt. He was a member of Darlington United Methodist Church and the Darlington Volunteer Fire Department, where he received Fireman of the Year in 1984 and 1995. He was also awarded 50 years service in 2004. He earned the Soil Conservation Farmer of the year in 1979 and was Darlington Apple of the Eye in 1993. For a number of years, he served as the 4H Superintendant of Beef at the Farm Fair. With his special friend Bob Kelly, he farmed Wayside Farm all of his life and was Harford County Farmer of the Year in 1991.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Liddle Elliott, of Darlington, MD; a son, William David Elliott of Darlington, MD; a daughter, Barbara Mae Dailey of Darlington, MD; three brothers, Robert Elliott of Edgewood, MD, Reuben Elliott of Darlington, MD and James Elliott of Texas; four sisters, Maria Hall of Bel Air, MD, Anna Watson of Forest Hill, MD, Margaret Powell and Corina Head, both of Bel Air, MD; three grandchildren, Dwayne Murphy of Forest Hill, MD, Nicole Dailey of Darlington, MD and Lisa Dailey of Street, MD; and six great-grandchildren, Kira and Deidra Murphy of Forest Hill, MD, Jason Suter of Darlington, MD, Jonathan Minter of Forest Hill, MD and Cory and Kylie Egnew of Street, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Okiey Elliott and Arthur Clarence and two sisters, Helen Keyes and Shirley Lorraine.
Pallbearers were Bob Kelly, Bryan Kelly, Dwayne Murphy, Richard Holloway, Donald Thomas and Jeff Ambrose. Honorary pallbearers were Ronald McNutt, Cole Nelson and Allen Thompson.
