Roy E. Brown

ROY EDWARD BROWN, age 69, of Churchville, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. The son of the late Thomas Brown and the late Mattie Lee Gilstrap, Roy was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 5, 1937. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his Masters degree from Indiana University.

He and Sue Carole Roehling were married December 27, 1958. Roy was drafted into the Army in 1960 and after basic training. He was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground. In 1963, he accepted a Civil Service position with the Department of the Army and remained at APG until his retirement in 1995. Roy and his wife have been active members of St. Margaret Parrish in Bel Air, MD since 1980. He was active with Marriage Encounter. Roy was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, watching sports, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue; son Kurt Brown of Baltimore, MD; son Kevin Brown of Pasadena, MD and his wife Sandy; daughter Kathy Mikhail of West Chester, PA and her husband Sam; and five grandchildren, Andrew Brown, Joshua Brown, Shannon Brown all of Pasadena, MD and Matthew Mikhail and Emily Mikhail both of West Chester, PA.

Pallbearers will be Jim Antal, Ron Basener, Jerry Cook, Jim Dehn, Charlie Filburn, Dave Grassey, Ray Vanden Bosche and Pat Venanzi.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association of Harford County, 8501 LaSalle Road, Suite 211, Towson, MD 21286.
