Roy J. Brinegar Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy James Brinegar, Sr. of Fallston, Maryland announce his passing on January 14, 2025 at the age of 83. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Roy James Brinegar, Jr., and spouse Brenda, of Bel Air, Maryland; his cherished grandsons, R.J. and Andrew; and his sisters, Gertrude Hill, Rose Mary Lewis, Margaret Sjoblom, Ruth Snyder, Sarah Price, and Gloria Adams. Roy was the beloved son of the late Fitzhugh and Ruth (Ayres) Brinegar and the devoted husband of the late Ruth (Blevins) Brinegar. In addition to his wife and parents, Roy is preceded in death by his brother, William Brinegar, and his sisters, Lorraine Bennett and Suzanne Demme.

After graduating Bel Air High School Roy joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and attained the rank of Sergeant. After his service, Roy returned to Fallston and met and married Ruth. They were proud to welcome their son, Jamie, into the world in 1970. Shortly afterwards, they built their house on the same road he was born and raised and lived there until his death. After retiring as a heavy equipment operator in 2018, Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and doing yardwork.

Roy was a devoted brother to his eight sisters, who relied on him throughout their lives for his unwavering support, wisdom, and care. He selflessly gave of himself, ensuring their well-being and always putting their needs above his own. His deep love and dedication to his family will forever be remembered.

Roy’s life was a testament to hard work, service, and love for family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 31st, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McComas Family Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 10:00 a.m., also at McComas Family Funeral Home, followed by interment at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
