Rose Marie Kerner (given name Rosa), age 94, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on December 7, 2019. Rose was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Pasquale Frate and Mary (Tacchetti) Frate. She was the wife of the late Charles Frederick Kerner. Rose valued her Italian heritage and loved to cook and bake. She spent hours every day in the kitchen making her family homemade meals from scratch. She was also known for baking entire tins of cookies and sending them throughout the east coast to family members. When not in the kitchen, Rose enjoyed gardening. Although her allergies often fought against her, she was able to bring any bush/plant that she touched, back to life. Many times, when sitting and having conversations with her, she would talk about her dreams and their meanings. She was fascinated by all things that had deeper meanings in life, beyond what met the eye. Her family didn’t always see eye to eye, but one thing they did agree on was that Rose was a "tough old bird" and very independent, even up through her last days.
Rose is survived by her three children, Joseph Kerner, Charlene Donovan (Husband Frank) and Kathleen Cellini; her siblings, Ida Fischer, Elena Fischer and John Frate; grandchildren, Maria Harris, Anthony Cellini, III, Brian Donovan, and Michael Kerner; great-grandchildren, Kelvin Jr., Camden and Carson Harris.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donato, Dominic and Joseph Frate, James Tacchetti; and sister, Marie Betlejeski,
For the better part of her life, Rose lived with epilepsy and took interest in the medical advancements they had made over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to: Epilepsy Foundation Chesapeake Region, 8503 LaSalle Road, Towson, MD 21286.
