Ronnie Yates

Ronnie Yates, age 81, of Jarrettsville, MD passed away on December 14, 2019 at Perry Point VA Medical Center in Perry Point, MD. Born at home in Elbert, WV, he was the son of Garfield Yates and Mary (Boner) Martin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and for over 25 years, was the Dairy Manager and Assistant Manager at A&P grocery stores. He enjoyed bowling, bicycling, target practice, photography, bird watching and boxing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and pets as well as spending time on Miracle Mountain with family and friends. He owned a Model A and enjoyed tinkering with it.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 55 ½ years, Melba Yates; two daughters, Tina Cartwright (Gary) of Jarrettsville and Dawn Donelson (Billy Mink) of Jarrettsville; siblings, Roger and Ava Yates of Princeton, WV, Mary Fraizer of Rockville, Shelby Thompson of Gary, WV, Sammy and Robin Martin of Princeton, WV, Jackie and David Romeo of Denver, NC, Toni and Bobby Shirley of Denver, NC, and Jack and Diane Martin of West Palm Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Saihara-Dawn George and Tabiatha Hartline. Sister in Laws, Shirley Smith of Little River South Carolina and Erma Gordon of Pensacola, Florida. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he adored. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, James Yates, Ernest Yates, Richard Yates and Jerry Martin.
