Ronald Cecil Petty, age 62, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on September 9, 2012 at Gilchrist Hospice after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Havre de Grace, he was the son of the late Cecil Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Smithson Petty. A 1968 graduate of Bel Air High School, he retired after 30 years with the Maryland State Police and had also worked seven years for the Harford County Sheriffs Office. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing and boating. He served faithfully at Baptist View Church where he was a longtime member, Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. His strong faith in God was an inspiration to many. Lovingly known as "Pop", he will be fondly remembered by many as a good friend, co-worker and neighbor. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life.
Mr. Petty is survived by his wife of 42 years, Glenda M. Petty; daughters, Sara C. Oswald and husband, Paul J., of Pylesville, MD and Jenna K. Mahoney and husband, Patrick, of Dover, DE; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn E. and Evan P. Oswald.
Pallbearers will be Brent Davidson, John Ruger, Dale Blevins, Bill Quesinberry, Larry Farmer, Ron Plummer, Steve Parker and Duane Williams.
