Roland Talmadge Talton Jr., age 89, of Bel Air, MD, died on November 6, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Pocomoke City, MD, he was the son of the late Roland Talmadge Talton, Sr. and Anna Louise Crockett Talton, and husband of the late Hilda Leonard Talton. A 1937 graduate of Pocomoke High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving our country during WWII. He was an instructor for the Army Air Force, and the last survivor of the 88th Bomb Group, for which he organized reunions. He enjoyed square dancing, going to the beach, and collecting coins. He loved gardening and specialized in growing cucumbers which he used to make his famous canned pickles. His career included positions as General Manager of Fecor's Novatech Division in Baltimore, and as a chemical engineer for 20 years at Atlantic Research Corporation in Alexandria, VA, where he did research in rocket propellants. He was a long time member of Luther Place Memorial Church in Washington DC, and most recently Mays Chapel United Methodist Church in Timonium.
Mr. Talton is survived by his son, David Alan Talton and wife, Kelly, of Wycombe, PA; daughters, Annette Talton Fisher and husband, Jim, of Reston, VA and Jennifer Talton Rickey and husband, Tim, of Whiteford, MD; sisters, Bonne Lynn Duke of Clermont, GA, Patricia Ruth Crim of Onancock, VA, and Winifred Roloson of Chicago, IL; loving companion, Dr. Beverly Stump of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, James Fisher and wife, Jennifer, of Ashburn, VA, Jeffrey Fisher of Falls Church, VA, Suzanne Fisher of Reston, VA, Jamie, Seth, and Cassie Rickey, all of Whiteford, MD, and Eve and Claudia Talton, both of Wycombe, PA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother William Jesse Talton, and sister, Ann Talton Peitz. His brother Bill and sister, Bonne, were both longtime residents of Pocomoke City.
