ROLAND F. MUIR, age 80, of Kinsale, VA, died on November 12, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Roland Frederick and Louisa Zock Muir and husband of the late Noma McComas Muir. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Merchant Marines after 30 years where he was a merchant seaman. A member of the Seafarer’s Union, he graduated from the Harry Londonberg School of Sailing and travelled the world over. An avid fisherman and crabber, he enjoyed the water. He took an active role in raising his step children.
Mr. Muir is survived by two stepsons, John G. Ball of Kinsale, VA and William E. Ball of Ft. Meyer, FL; two stepdaughters, Mary L. Wilson of Jarrettsville, MD and Betty Nussle of Joppa, MD; two sisters, Dorothy Rebholtz of Kinsale, VA and Sally Waterfield of Montross, VA; eleven grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John J. Nussle IV, John J. Nussle V, William E. Ball Jr., Steven J. Kuzma, Joseph C. Butler, and S. Craig Kirkwood.
