Roger Parks, age 73, of White Hall, MD passed away on February 11, 2014 Born in Belen, NM, he was the son of the late Clarence Emerson and Eunice Eureva Lundgren Parks. Roger was an active member and leader of Troop 22 Boy Scouts of America in El Paso, TX where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also active and held leadership positions in the Methodist Youth Fellowship of Asbury Methodist Church of El Paso. A graduate of Austin High School in El Paso, he participated in the Senior Band, Senior Follies and the First Aid Response Team called Save & Serve. He was an officer in the ROTC and achieved the highest caliber membership on the AHS Varsity Rifle Team called Gauze, Grease & Guns. He went on to graduate from Texas Western College in El Paso where he was a founding member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and was elected to the Inter Fraternity Council. He was an ROTC graduate receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and commissioned into the United States Army in 1966. He served 20 years in the Army attaining the rank of Major and served tours in Korea, Iran and the Vietnam War. While in the service, he obtained a Master Degree in Human Relations from Webster College and also completed the Command and General Staff College. He worked for the Department of Public Works at Aberdeen Proving Ground until his retirement in 2006. An avid stamp and coin collector, he also collected model trains and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, Sharon Ann Parks; daughters, Michele Cary and husband, Mark, of Escondido, CA and Jennifer Parks and husband, Joe Barrouk, of White Hall; sister Karen Beth Robbins and husband, George, of Belton, TX; and grandchildren, Samantha and Shane Cary of Escondido, CA and Michael and Alex Barrouk of White Hall. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald Allen and John Emerson Parks; and a sister, Jerilyn Jean Parks.
