Roger E. Martin

Roger E. Martin, age 63, of Edgewood, MD, died on October 13, 2009 at his home. Born in Chilhowie, VA, he was the son of the late James Wilson and Inis Luvine Testerman Martin. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served three tours in Vietnam. He worked as a security guard at Aberdeen Proving Ground for over 20 years, retiring on August 31, 2006. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his dogs.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Geraldine Fryer Martin of Edgewood, MD; daughter, Barbara A. Martin of Rising Sun, MD; son-in-law, Christopher Irvine of Rising Sun, MD; brothers, Arlen Martin of Hickory, NC and Lonnie Wiley of Leesburg, VA; sisters, Shirley Martin of Arlington, VA, Farris Scyphers of Marion, VA, Carolyn Smith of Atkins, VA, and Sandy Privett of Chilhowie, VA; and several aunts in VA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Howard and Ray Martin.
