Robert (Bob) Van Jolliffe Sr., age 85, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on December 1, 2022 at Lorien Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of Oliver Paul Jolliffe and Velma Lucille (Hamilton) Jolliffe. After graduating from Charleston High School, Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. He worked as a physicist until retiring after 33 years of service with the U.S. Department of Defense at Edgewood Area of the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Bob enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing, ping pong, pickleball and traveling the U.S. with his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially family vacations in the summer at Deep Creek Lake. He enjoyed being out on the water boating and fishing. He was also an avid reader and nature enthusiast.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Christine Jolliffe Boyce and husband, Edward, of Bel Air; son, Robert Van Jolliffe Jr. and wife, Mary Ann, of Six Mile, SC; grandchildren, Katherine, Samantha, Emilee, Sydney, Hunter and Riley; great grandson, Jack. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul Jolliffe and his sister, Donna Albers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob Jolliffe may be made to the National Park Foundation, 1500 K Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005 (nationalparks.org) or the Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047 (harfordshelter.org).
