Robert Rogers Cassilly, age 95, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 4, 2021 at his home. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of Robert R. Cassilly Sr. and Vera (Swart) Cassilly. Robert was raised in Harford County. He graduated in 1943 from Mount Saint Joseph High School. He served his country in WWII in the U. S. Merchant Marine, in the US Army during the Korean War, as a Department of Defense Advisor in Vietnam, as a member of the Maryland Army National Guard and the Maryland Defense Force. He was a Sergeant Major in the 20th Special Forces. He was a graduate of University of Baltimore Law School and worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground as an Engineer Assistant. In his retirement, he was proud to be a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was active with the Aberdeen Military Museum Foundation and the Harford County Historical Society. He was a member of Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Hickory, MD.
Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy Webster Cassilly; children, Joseph (Diana) Cassilly, Jane (Tom) Knapp, Mary Cassilly, Ann (Don) Lyons, Martha (Henry) Parkman, Robert (Debi) Cassilly, Lucy (Peter) Godfrey, Veronica Cassilly (partner, Carey Marzicola), Andrew (Amy) Cassilly and Ruth Cassilly; sister, Frances Cassilly Adams; brother, Peter Cassilly; 31 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Cassilly Borland, son, Michael Cassilly, brother, Richard Cassilly and sister, Catherine Crahan.
