Robert P. Brannan Sr.

August 23, 1923 — March 6, 2008

ROBERT P. BRANNAN SR., age 84, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 6, 2008 at Perry Point VA Hospital in Perrville, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Walter and Margaret Theresa Reape Brannan. He was an Army veteran serving during WWII in Company L 24th Infantry Regiment. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 35 years and upon retirement, he worked as an export inspector for SGS for over 20 years. For many years, he was a dedicated member and head usher at St. Ignatius Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW and the DAV. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as, all of the family pets.

Mr. Brannan is survived by his wife, who he would have been married to for 60 years in December, Pauline Swift Brannan of Bel Air, MD; six children, Robert P. Brannan and his wife, Debbie, of Clermont, FL, Nancy M. Lort and her husband, Bill, of Churchville, MD, Susan J. Sergent and her husband, Charles, of Bel Air, MD, Sandy L. Hoff and her husband, Tom, of Bel Air, MD, Steven M. Brannan and his wife, Joan, of Churchville, MD, and Michael S. Brannan and his wife, Christine, of Nanjemoy, MD; twelve grandchildren, Bobby Brannan and Chris Brannan, both of Clermont, FL, Stacie Currey of Bel Air, MD, Billy Lort of Baltimore, MD, Stephanie Sergent, Charles Sergent, Tommy Hoff and Joey Hoff, all of Bel Air, MD, Amanda Brannan and Austin Brannan of Churchville, MD, Alexa Mamakos and Athena Mamakos of Nanjemoy, MD; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Currey, Tyler Currey, and Mackenzie Currey, all of Bel Air, MD. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Charles Sergent Sr., Tom Hoff, Bill Lort Sr., Bobby Brannan III, Bill Lort Jr., and Chris Brannan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Ignatius Catholic Church Building Fund, 533 East Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050.
