Robert Michael (Bob) Kane, age 78, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on March 18, 2013 at his home. He was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Norbert Anthony Kane and Pauline Eva Kane (nee Rakowski) and was also the husband of the late Kathleen Kane. A distinguished veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean conflict, he then returned to Baltimore to work as a longshoreman for 45 years. Bob's passion for his Roman Catholic faith, Irish and Polish Heritage were the cornerstones of his life. His lifelong membership in the Knights of Columbus led him to serving as a Grand Knight, District Warden and Color Corps Commander. He was a member of the St. Francis de Sales parish in Abingdon, MD, where he was active with the Father Maurice Wolfe Council and the Archbishop John Carroll Assembly in the Fourth Degree of the K of C. Bob always enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister, playing a round of golf and cruising the high seas with his Knights' group.
Mr. Kane is survived by his sons, Shaun Kane and wife, Carey, of Abingdon, MD, Robert (Mike) Kane, Jr. and wife Ann, of Kathleen, GA, Jeffrey Kane and wife, Karen, of MD, Joseph Kane and wife Lisa, of Hanover, PA; dear brother Norbert A. Kane of Gulfport, MS; beloved sisters, Sister Patricia Kane, OSF and Sister Betty Kane, OSF both of Aston, PA; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his pal, Cal (the cat) as well as his dogs, Storm, Piper and Bailey. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Wancowicz and sister-in-law, Rose Kane.
