Robert M. Potter, age 71, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on March 1, 2020 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Rayford and Verna (Wines) Potter. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked as a steel worker for 19 years. In his late 30s, he became the first male president of a nursing class at Essex Community College and worked as a Registered Nurse from 1989 - 2014. Many of the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Upper Chesapeake knew Bob personally. Bob loved his boats and enjoyed boating and especially crabbing; everyone agreed he could make the best steamed crabs around. He was very handy around the house, took great pleasure in working outdoors and traveling with his wife after retiring. He was an avid sports fan, following the Baltimore Ravens closely, and liked to read and play solitaire.
Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marianne Potter; daughter, Mary Beth (Jeremy) Potter Claude; sons, Gregory (Holly) R. Potter and Eric (Meagan) J. Potter; half-brother, Wes (Marcy) Potter; grandchildren, Brent Claude, Rosemary Claude, Jenna Potter, Elijah Potter, Naomi Potter and another Potter grandchild on the way.
