Robert Lee Shockley, age 92, of Forest Hill, Maryland died peacefully on September 24, 2021 at Hart Heritage Estates in Street, MD. Born March 5, 1929 in Garrett County, MD, he moved with his family to the Middle River area of Baltimore County during the World War II years. He is predeceased by his parents, Bryan Shockley, a Baltimore County educator and administrator, and Mary Katherine Lipscomb Shockley, and his brother, Glenn Shockley. Mr. Shockley was a graduate of Kenwood High School, Mount Vernon School of Law, and the University of Baltimore. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1948-52 and later worked for many years doing legal research. Mr. Shockley suffered with extreme hearing loss but still enjoyed conversations and family gatherings with his cousins in Baldwin, MD. An avid reader, he continued to read aviation science and veterans’ publications. He greatly appreciated the books, newspapers, and magazines available at Harford and Baltimore County libraries.
Mr. Shockley is survived by Shockley family cousins and caregivers, Celeste and Richard Walter of Baldwin, and Paul and Jean Wimmer of Phoenix. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Jones Shockley of Fairfax, VA. Other survivors are his Shockley family cousins from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. He is survived by Lipscomb family cousins Shirley Ambrogi, Rosemary Steadman, Rod Lewis. He is also survived by his faithful friends and neighbors, Frank and Beth Fimowitz of Forest Hill.
