Robert Lawrence Kirby, Sr.

Robert Lawrence Kirby Sr., age 93, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 8, 2024 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (nee Kelly) Kirby and devoted husband of 67 years to the late Rosalie Ann Kirby.            

He was a journeyman machinist and supervisor for the Bethlehem Steel Company for 43 years as well as an Army veteran.  He enjoyed family, cars (especially Lincolns) and home improvement projects.  In retirement he traveled to Europe and the Holy Land as well as throughout the country with his wife in their motorhome.  He was a Godly man of great faith and active member of Upper Cross Roads Baptist Church for over 30 years.   

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Kirby Jr. and his wife Vanessa; two daughters, Elaine Klinger and her husband Gerald, Jr.; Lynn Instone and her husband George Thomas, III; three granddaughters, Rebekah Hansen and her husband David, Rachel Mitmesser and her husband Jason, and Ashleigh Instone; three grandsons, Robert Kirby III and his wife Jessica, Gerald Klinger III, and Ryan Kirby; and twelve great grandchildren.  William, A.J., Bethenne, Katie and Emmie Hansen; Zachariah, David and Madalyn Taylor; and Brayden, Emma, Beckett and Brooks Kirby.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended loving family.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Instone and by his three siblings: brother, John Kirby, sisters, Margaret Rosengren, and Nancy Hesterberg
