Robert Kemp Cole, age 81, of Edgewood, MD, died on August 31, 2008 at Genesis Health Care-Cromwell in Baltimore, MD. Born in Sparks, MD, he was the son of the late Amos Wesley and Nina Clifta Howard Cole. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served our country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring after 20 years of service. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a mail carrier. An active member of the American Legion Post #17 in Edgewood, he was an Adjutant General and Secretary, and past Post Commander. He was a very active volunteer at Perry Point Veteran's Hospital and was a skilled woodworker.
Mr. Cole is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kou Abe Cole of Edgewood, MD; son, Robert Peter Cole and wife, Peggy A. Cole, of Baltimore, MD; brothers, William W. Cole of Upperco, MD and Charles C. Cole of Cockeysville, MD; sisters, Betty A. Cooper and Dorothy R. Cook, both of Abingdon, MD; granddaughter, Deserae L. Mann of Orlando, FL; and great-grandchildren, Shaina N., Alfred, and Prince D. Mann, all of Orlando, FL. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Cornelius Eugene Cole and a sister, Laura A. Bauerlien.
