Robert James Crytser Sr., age 89, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 23, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Duquesne, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer and Eva Hunt Crytser. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a supervisor at Aberdeen Proving Ground were he retired after 41 years. An avid bowler, he was inducted into the Harford-Cecil Hall of Fame in 1991 and was a bowling instructor, teaching for 31 years, at Bel Air Bowl and Forest Hill Lanes. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Churchville, MD and the American Legion Post #39 in Bel Air, MD. He was an avid model railroader, wood worker, and made Christmas lawn ornaments. His family said he enjoyed spending his vacations at the beach.
Mr. Crytser is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara O. Mitchell Crytser of Bel Air, MD; his son, Robert J. Crytser Jr. of Joppa, MD; daughters, M. Jean Raeke of Joppa, MD and Linda Leigh Tyler of Bel Air, MD; brothers, Richard Crytser of Orman Beach, FL and Danny Crytser of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Alexandra Tyler of Bel Air, MD, C. Blair Tyler of Abingdon, MD, Stacey Crytser of Joppa, MD, Heather Crytser of Bel Air, MD, and Raymond C. Raeke III of Joppa, MD; and great-grandchildren, Alaina Koerber of Joppa, MD and Zane Raeke of Joppa, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn B. Mann.
Pallbearers will be Blair Tyler, Neil Cullum, Paul Cockerham, Chuck Raeke, Ray Raeke, and Robert J. Crytser Jr.
