ROBERT J. SCHLOER, age 73, of Aberdeen, died in Franklin Square Hospital, Rossville, MD on June 22, 2004. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Henry and Helen Vandeiver Schloer. He had retired after 36 years of service as a carpenter and crane mechanic with Bethlehem Steel. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Edgewood, the Local Union 269 and 2610 Steelworkers of Dundalk. He was an avid crabber, fisherman, hunter, and billiards player. He enjoyed spending time at his home on Deel Island in Chance on the Eastern Shore. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who called him “Buckeroo”.
Mr. Schloer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorna M. Bligh Schloer; three daughters, Karen D. Hinckle and her husband, Gary of Aberdeen; Denise R. Kropp and her husband, Mark of Aberdeen; Roberta L. Hornbarger of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Lauren N. Kropp and Emily M. Kropp, both of Aberdeen. Also survived by three nephews, Jay Proescher of Indiana; Robert Proescher of Baltimore; and Bruce Proescher of Baltimore. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, John Schloer and Fred Schloer; and one sister, Margaret Proescher.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Hinckle, Mark Kropp, Bruce Proescher, Tom Lessner, Frank Slowikowski, Waynne (Correct spelling) Chlan and Hen Brandenburg
