Bel Air, Maryland – Robert Charles "Bob" Grue, age 70, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on January 15, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles Robert “Bob” and Helen Patricia “Pat” Grue. Bob was husband to Nancy for 46 years.
Bob was employed as a Chemist at Aberdeen Proving Ground/Edgewood Arsenal before being disabled by Multiple Sclerosis. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was an avid comic book collector. Bob enjoyed playing volleyball and biking, even commuting to work on his bike.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, and sons, Adam Vincent Grue and David Robert Grue as well as brother, Stephen Anthony Grue, and sisters, Carol Ann Klein, Marie Louise Christensen, and Gloria Pauline Wolcott. We siblings remember Bob as “Bo”, shortened from Bob, to avoid the confusion of having two Bobs in the house. As the oldest, Bo often took on the roll of babysitter when our parents went bowling or managed a night away from five kids.
When asked what people most remembered about Bob, it was repeatedly said that he would go out of his way to help you in any way he could. Bob’s positive attitude is something we could all aspire to emulate. He always made the best of the situation he was in, even joking about his memory loss, “I can watch the same show over and over and it’s always new to me.”
Bob will be remembered for his perseverance through thick and thin, especially his unwavering steadfastness through a long and crippling illness. Bob will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
No services are planned at this time, as Bob has unselfishly donated his body to science. Even in death he wanted to keep helping others. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, https://secure.nationalmssociety.org/site/Donation2?df_id=63293&63293.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T
The Grue family would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to McComas Funeral home for allowing us to present this tribute to Bob(Bo), husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
