Robert G. ''Bob'' Nelson

Robert G. "Bob" Nelson, age 82, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on November 14, 2014 at his home. Born in Baltimore, he is the son of the late Claude Vincent and Genevieve Katherine Jones Nelson and husband of 37 years to the late Helen Janice Gies Nelson. A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he served our country during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and retired after 20 years of service as a Gunnery Sergeant. He was a troubleshooter for BGE and later owned and operated Nelsons Sharp-All Shop and Superior Sharpening Works in Parkville. He was a life member of American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air, member of Moose Lodge #70 in Essex, and Baltimore County Game and Fish Protective Association. He enjoyed shooting, camping and gardening.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his daughter, Janice L. Walton of Carmel, IN; step daughters, Michelle Yousefi of Forest Hill and Lauren A. Mason of Dover, PA; step sons, Blair M. Mallonee Sr. of Airville, PA, Jay M. Mallonee of Westminster, Mark S. Mallonee of Union Town and Robert K. Mallonee of Westminster; brother, Roland Nelson of Bel Air; 29 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Schwab.

Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 39 Color Guard.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in Bob's name to the American Legion Post 39, 500 N. Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014.
