Robert Gene Bishoff, United States Army (Retired Major) passed quietly at home on February 13, 2020 after 92 great years. Bob was born in Boone, Iowa on March 28, 1927. He spent his early years in Conway, Iowa until his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Kenwood High School in 1945 and 2 weeks later enlisted in the US Army where he worked in finance for 22 years. Bob served in the Korean War and over the years was stationed in Camp Wood, Japan; Robinson Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany and Ft Bragg, North Carolina. He received 10 medals, including the Army Commendation and Good Conduct medals. He retired as a Major in 1967 from Ft Holabird. The military was deeply engrained in him so he then began his Civil Service career as Chief of Military Pay at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He next became an Efficiency Expert for the Army National Guard at Edgewood Arsenal from which he again retired after 20 years.
Bob loved gardening, bowling, fishing, hunting, boating, woodworking, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, playing Santa Claus and of course, catching and eating crabs.
Bob is survived by his wife Dorothy Bishoff, her 8 children and her numerous grand and great grandchildren, his 3 children: son Robert Charles Bishoff and wife Darla of Boonsboro, Maryland, daughter Susan Kay Simons and husband Stephen of Columbia, Maryland and son Michael David Bishoff and wife Slavka of Normandy Park, Washington. He also has 7 grandchildren: Heather Chavez, Brian Simons, Robert and Melanie Bishoff, Travis Morgan and Lenka and Sashka Bishoff and 7 great grandchildren Isabella and Samuel Chavez, Owen, Jacob, Brielle Simons and Ciara and Delyn Morgan. Bob was preceded in death by this parents Charles Roland and Hazel Evelyn Bishoff, wife Ada Freida Bishoff and sisters Betty Lou Lantz and Carole Ann Bauer.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Amedisys Foundation, 7106 Ridge Road, Suite 140, Rosedale, MD 21237 for all that they did for Bob in his time of need or to Wounded Warrior Project: support.woundedwarriorproject.org and Trinity Lutheran Church, 1100 Philadelphia Road, Joppa, MD
