Robert J. Draper, Jr.

Robert J. “Buck” Draper Jr. of Bel Air, MD, died on January 20, 2024. He was 98. Born May 28, 1925, in Delta, PA, he was the son of the late Robert J. Draper Sr. and Bessie A. Draper and the husband of the late Evonell Williams Draper.

He retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric as a Senior Designer after 34 years of service. After retiring, he worked part-time for 18 years with Cheyenne’s Pilot Cars during the summer months and spent winter months in West Palm Beach, FL. Since July 2020, he was a much-loved resident of Brightview Senior Living.

He was a 1942 graduate of Slate Ridge High School. He served in the Marine Corps and prior to that was a Merchant Seaman.

He was a charter member of the Bel Air Moose Lodge and served as its first secretary. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Mount Ararat Lodge 44 AF & AM.

He was a member of the Bel Air United Methodist Church which he joined in 1958.

Buck is survived by two daughters, Jackie Ensor (John) of Mt. Airy, MD, and Jane Russell (Barrett) of Bel Air, MD; two grandsons, Scott Ensor (Amy) of Catonsville, MD and Mark Ensor (Kristen) of Ellicott City, MD; two granddaughters, Hannah and Lydia Russell of Bel Air, MD; and five great-grandchildren, Joey, Elsie, Ashley, Luke, and Grady Ensor. He was predeceased by sisters Edith McLaughlin, Margaret Hash, and Hazel Thompson, and brother Ralph Draper.

A graveside service will be held at Bel Air Memorial Gardens at a later date.
