Robert Lloyd Dorsey, age 78, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away on April 24, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Henderson, Texas, he was the son of the late Robert and Josephine (Young) Dorsey and beloved husband of Carolyn Dorsey.
Robert served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, embodying courage and dedication throughout his service and as a veteran. He was a man of faith and a devoted member of Emmorton Baptist Church, where his spirit of kindness and community flourished.
Robert had a profound love for history, with a particular passion for learning about the Civil War and World War II. His thirst for knowledge extended beyond history, as he also delved into the study of religion, seeking greater understanding of the Scriptures.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his sons, Michael Dorsey and wife Katherine, and David Dorsey and wife Jessica; his brother, Ronald Dorsey; his sister, Rebecca Cook; and his cherished grandchildren, Robbie, Kirsten, Jonathan, and Natalie. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baltimore Rescue Mission, an organization close to Robert's heart.
