Bob Cody

Bel Air, Maryland – Bob Cody, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the cherished son of the late Robert and Myrtle (Lee) Cody. Bob was the beloved husband of Diane (Ruckman) Cody, and they would have joyfully celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on December 28, 2023.
After completing his Masters Degree at the University of Kentucky, Bob took a 3 month stint as an editor for NASA in Cleveland, Ohio and then taught one year at Lees Junior College in Kentucky.  The following year, he obtained his PhD at the University of Florida before starting his career as an English professor at Harford Community College in 1974 and retiring in 2006. His passion for education touched the lives of many students.
An avid collector with an insatiable curiosity, Bob found joy in assembling an array of treasures throughout his life. 
Bob was not only a devoted husband but also a compassionate member of the community. He dedicated his time to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Our Daily Bread, and Welcome One Emergency Shelter, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he served. Bob's commitment to faith was evident in his membership at St. Margaret Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. 
In addition to his loving wife, Diane, Bob is survived by his sister, Patricia Cox; nieces, Debbie Gorin (Mark) and Jennifer White; and great-nieces, Kacy, Ally, and Diana. Their memories of Bob will be cherished, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Margaret Catholic Church.
