Robert ''Bob'' W. Park Jr.

December 5, 1936 — October 4, 2009

Robert Wilson "Bob" Park, Jr., of Joppa, Maryland, aged 72, passed away on October 4, 2009, at the Gilchrist Hospice of complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born in Quantico, Virginia, Mr. Park was the son of the late Robert W. Park, Sr. and Adele Herlihy Park. Mr. Park was a graduate of the University of Richmond and a very successful career salesman.

Bob was a "people person," and as sales executive for Victor Business Products, he was beloved by many customers, winning national awards for top sales in cash registers and calculators. Leaving Victor, he joined Motorola in the infancy of cellular telephones and later sold phones for CellularOne.

Mr. Park was a Life Member of the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company for over 30 years, where he was once President. Bob served on the ambulance and fought fires, and in later years, served on the Board of Directors. In 1999, he was elected to the Harford-Cecil Volunteer Fireman's Association Hall of Fame. Also, Bob loved boating and enjoyed cruising with his wife in many creeks on the Eastern Shore.

A long-time victim of kidney disease, after 4 years of dialysis, he received a kidney transplant, a generous gift from a family in Southern Maryland. The transplant gave him 13 years of good quality of life.

Best known as a devoted family man, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara Younkin Jump Park, and six daughters, Jennifer Duffy and husband, Joe, of Glen Rock, PA, Elizabeth Anderson and husband, Guy, of Towson, Heather Hendricksen and husband, Dwight, of Owings Mills, Wendy Smith and husband, Matt, of Ellicott City, Rebecca Stevenson and husband, Dan, of New Freedom, PA, and Jessica Park of Abingdon.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Colman, Brigit and Moira Duffy, Natalie and Juliana Anderson, Grant and Morgan Hendricksen, Adele Smith, and Eric, Ellie and Matthew Stevenson. He was predeceased by one grandchild, Robert William Stevenson.
