Robert "Bob" W. Callahan, age 69, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Aberdeen, MD, died on March 2, 2010 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Neil and Emma Grace Mohr Callahan. Currently he resided in Chincoteague Island, VA in summer and Punta Gorda, FL in winter. A four year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, he retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1993, after 27 years of service where he was a Facilities Manager. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, cruising, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Callahan is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Tibbs Callahan of Chincoteague Island, VA; sons, Robert W. Callahan Jr. and wife, Janice, of Jonestown, PA, Patrick M. Callahan and wife, Annette, of Joppa, MD; and Christopher G. Callahan of Rising Sun, MD; brothers, Thomas Neil Callahan of Zephyr Hills, FL, Daniel Callahan of Perryville, MD, and B. Patrick Callahan of Aberdeen, MD; sisters, Mary Helen Walls of Aberdeen, MD, Kathleen Kellner of Dayton, MN, and Grace Price of Aberdeen, MD; and grandchildren, Randy Hall, Jennifer Callahan, Brian Callahan, Zachary Callahan, and Kristyn Callahan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Anne Marble.
