Robert "Bobby" Ayres, age 52, of Queenstown, MD, passed away on December 5, 2013 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold, MD after a three year battle with melanoma. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Robert Whiteford Ayres and Helen Ivy Minnick Ayres. A resident of Hickory for most of his life, he had recently moved to the Eastern Shore. For 24 years he was a member of the Bel Air Community Band where he played percussion. He also performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. He was a member of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, and Past President of the Col. Aquila Hall Chapter in Harford County. He served as drummer for the Maryland Society Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard. He was a member of the General Society of the War of 1812 in Maryland. He also served in the Maryland Defense Force.
