Robert A. Mazur, 76, of Edgewood, MD, went to be with Jesus on March 15, 2015 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Jersey City and raised in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late Andrew Charles Mazur and Harriet (Majkowski) Mazur. He began serving his country in the Marines and continued his service with the Army where he retired, at APG/Edgewood, after 27+ years of service. He was a highly decorated First Sergeant and a recipient of the Bronze Star in addition to multiple awards of valor. He served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and prior to that did a tour of duty in Korea with the majority of his service being spent in Germany. In addition to being an outstanding soldier he was a selflessly loving and devoted husband and proud father. He was a man of integrity never wavering when it came to his family and service to country.
Mr. Mazur is survived by his wife of 56 years, Berta (Wirkner) Mazur; children, Robert Mazur, Angelika Martin, Patricia Zimmerman, Barbara Ann Mazur, Heidemarie Miller and William Andrew Mazur; sister, Joan Amodeo of Bayonne, NJ; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
