Rita Ciemny Handy, age 84, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on January 30, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Leopold Albert and Victoria Tyskiewicz Cymber Ciemny. She worked in the billing department at Paris Castoro Eye Center. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church for more than 50 years and a recent volunteer with the Red Cross in Abingdon. She enjoyed acting and had appeared in Home for the Holidays and Homicide Life in the Street. With her husband, she attended the 100th Army Division annual reunions from the end of World War II until the final reunion in 2010.
Mrs. Handy is survived by her husband, Archie L. Handy; sons, Robert Alan Handy and wife, Janet, of Bel Air and Donald Warren Handy of Sinking Spring, PA; brother, Daniel Ciemny of Singapore; four grandchildren, Curtis, Lynn, Greg and Beth Handy; and great-grandson, Chase Handy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Leo Ciemny Jr.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Don, Greg, Lynn, Beth and Curtis Handy.
