Rick Archer

Winfield Trainor Archer, Jr. -- who went by Rick -- of Bel Air, MD passed away on March 8, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center due to complications from chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Born on October 2, 1958, he was the son of the late Winfield and Irene (Rosier) Archer.

He was a graduate of Bel Air High School (Class of 1976), Frostburg State College, and Loyola College. He was formerly an employee of General Instruments Corporation, traveling around the world to install race track equipment, and as an independent computer consultant. He was a farmer and gardener and was knowledgeable and talented in a multitude of ways. He was an avid woods-walker, a member of the Bel Air Athletic Club, enjoyed swimming, and loved rugby.

Rick is survived by his wife, Nancy O'Connor and his sister, Alice Airy Archer; his step-daughter Valerie Garback and her husband, Ben; and his in-laws, William and Joyce O'Connor, all of Bel Air. He was the nephew of Sheffield and Mary Phillips of Forest Hill, Martin and Lillian Scheppelmann of Havre de Grace, the late Hanson and Adelaide Coale, the late Wilbur and Margaret Rutledge, and the late Harold and Rhoda Abshire. He is also survived by numerous cousins, life-long friends, neighbors, and acquaintances.

Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, PA, in Bel Air, MD on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Avenue, Bel Air, MD on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 12:00 noon, followed by a fellowship luncheon in McComas Hall. Family interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Emmorton prior to the service.
