Richard "Pops" Smith

Richard "Pops" Smith, age 80, of Street, Maryland passed away on July 21, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Rowlandsville, Maryland, he was the son of Horace Smith and Harriet (Burton) Pyle. Richard enjoyed hard work. In his younger years he worked for Ross Todd farming and went on to become a magnificent carpenter with Jarrettsville Builders for most of his life. Enjoying his craft as a carpenter, he was proud to have done a lot of work on his church, William Watters United Methodist Church in Jarrettsville.  He loved horses and enjoyed riding and working with leather.  He loved his grandchildren and was so proud of them.  Richard was a quiet man who was always willing to help others.  He will be missed by his community, friends and family. 

Richard is survived by his wife Mary (Knopp) Smith, who he married in 1963; sons, Douglas Richard Smith and Steven William Smith; grandchildren, Rick Smith and wife Kelsey and Jennifer Smith; great grandchildren, R.J. Smith and Peyton Smith; and sisters, Susan and Kathy. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, John and Jim, and sister, Betty.
