Richard L. Blevins

January 4, 1936 — May 11, 2018

Richard L. Blevins, age 82, of Bel Air, MD passed away on May 11, 2018 at his home. Born in Abingdon, MD, he was the son of the late Aris Plato and Silvia Beatrice (Tickle) Blevins. He was born and brought up on a dairy farm, and continued to work on the farm until he took over his Uncle's business in 1975. At Bel Air High School, where he graduated in 1955, he was president of the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and Student Council. He was the owner of Blevins Heating and Cooling for 25 years. He was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he was a past Deacon and Trustee, and played on their softball team for many years. Additionally, he was a member of the Farm Bureau Association of Harford County. He loved gardening and farming, as well as bowling at the Bel Air Bowl. He never missed an Orioles, Maryland Terps or Ravens game. He attended the Orioles Fantasy Camp for many years. He loved to travel to Florida and Virginia, in addition to spending time at the family cabin in Wytheville, the condo in Ocean City, and the condo in Bristol, Tennessee. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rose Marie Norman Blevins; children, Kenneth (Cindy) N. Blevins of Forest Hill, Rodney (Nancy) L. Blevins of Bel Air, and Timothy (Lorena) A. Blevins of Tampa, FL; five brothers, Michael Blevins of Sebring, FL, Lewis Blevins of Fall Branch, TN, David Blevins of Bel Air, Philip Blevins of Bel Air, and George (Tom) Blevins of Bel Air; two sisters, Brenda Richardson of Salisbury and Sarah (Sally) Boats of Aberdeen; four granddaughters, Morgan (Neil, Jr.) Lee Casteel of Forest Hill, Alyssa N. Blevins of Bel Air, Courtney L. Blevins of Bel Air, and Alexandra Blevins of Tampa, FL; two great-grandsons, Mason Casteel and Timothy Owens; and four great-granddaughters, Annabella Casteel, Emery Owens, Avery Owens, and Lila Owens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice Blevins, Edward Blevins and Arthur Blevins; and granddaughter, Brittanie M. Blevins.
