Richard J. Cole, age 86, of Street, MD passed away on July 26, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Elk Creek, VA, he was the son of Graham Lewis and Pearl Cynthia (Hodge) Cole. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Korean War. He retired after 31 years from AT&T Telephone Company where he worked as a systems technician, had worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He loved the Lord and was a member and deacon of Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church, where he taught teenage and adult Sunday school, and was the Sunday school superintendent. He always visited the sick.
Mr. Cole is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Ann Cole; two daughters, Janet (Bill) L. Graves of Conowingo and Joyce (Artie) A. Reeves of Darlington; brother, Curtis R. Cole of Forest Hill; sister, Virginia E. Jackson of Bel Air; granddaughters, Jessica N. Lewis, Rachel M. McGuigan, Kaitlan A. Reeves and Aurielle L. Sauers; and great granddaughter, Adelaide D. McGuigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph G. Coale and sister, Louise Cole.
