Richard H. Streett Jr., age 93, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2022, in Bel Air, Maryland.
Born on October 25,1928 in Fallston, Maryland, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruby (Thomas) Streett. Also preceding him in death, a little over a month ago, is his wife of 65 years, Nancy (Keen) Streett.
Dick worked for BG&E for 35 years as a lineman and foreman and worked an enormous amount of overtime to help restore power to those who lost it during storms. After he retired he worked part-time for Richardson’s Florist scheduling the delivery of and sometimes delivering flowers.
Dick was a member of Emory United Methodist Church in Street, Maryland for 65 years where he had served as treasurer, trustee, and a board member. He also helped to build the youth center and with church suppers and picnics – especially making his famous ice tea. Dick and his brother, Gene, used to put up the Christmas lights down Main and Bond Streets in Bel Air. He was an avid gardener who had an amazing “green thumb” and could grow anything or bring something back to life. In his younger years, Dick loved to visit his grandparents and help on their farm. He greatly enjoyed traveling and made it to almost all of the states including Hawaii and Alaska. One of his favorite places to take his family each year was to Rehoboth Beach. Dick was also an avid hunter and loved his hunting dogs.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Denise Streett and Janet Streett; son David Streett (MaryRose); grandsons, Joshua (Sarah) Streett and Gregory Streett; great-grandsons, Landon Streett and Caleb Streett; and his brother, M. Eugene Streett.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Emory United Methodist Church Building fund.
