Richard (Dick) G. Kennard, age 81, of Bel Air, MD passed away peacefully on December 22, 2015 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond C. Kennard, Jr. and H. Emily (Chenoweth) Kennard.
Originally from the Hamilton neighborhood in Baltimore City, he held degrees from Baltimore Polytechnic, University of Maryland, Loyola University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. In the sixties and seventies, he worked for the Baltimore City Board of Education in administrative and teaching posts where he was assigned to Western High School, Patterson High School, Booker T. Washington High School and Herring Run Junior High. In 1998, he retired from the Harford County Board of Education after 25 years of service. He had been assigned to administrative and teaching posts at Bel Air High School, North Harford High School and Southampton Middle School. In retirement, he enjoyed substitute teaching at Southampton Middle School.
His hobbies included bowling, golf, attending Ravens games and collecting stamps. In 1995, he played the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland with his best friend, Jack Mauer. He also loved spending time at his condo in Ocean City, Maryland.
Mr. Kennard is survived by his daughters, Tracy (Kennard) Imm and husband, Donald, of Reisterstown and Robin (Kennard) Supik and husband, Paul, of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Cal and Hannah Supik; and his special friend, Marion Weaver. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roger F. Kennard.
