RICHARD EDWARD SMITH, age 63, of Bel Air, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, on September 2, 2006. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Helen and William Stanley Smith, Sr. A veteran of Vietnam, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Harford County resident for 54 years, and an employee of BGE for 34 years. Mr. Smith attended Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Church, where in 1968 he married , Joy Peak Smith, his wife of 38 years. He was a big Elvis fan, and loved cruising in his classic cars with a life size Elvis in the back seat. Among hisother hobbies were vegetable and flower gardening, a large collection of cast iron cars, and wood crafts. His work shop was known as Snuffy’s Crib.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Joy Peak Smith of Bel Air, MD; a son, Mark Eric Smith of Pensecola, FL; a daughter, Laurie Ann (Smith) Dosher and her husband Christopher, of Beauford, SC; two brothers, Paul F. Smith and his wife Carol of Cambridge, MD, and Norman A. Smith, Sr. of Abingdon, MD; a sister, Bernadette Ison and her husband, Estille of Kingsville, MD; and one grandchild, Shannon Dosher of Beauford, SC.
