Richard D. Reel

July 23, 1915 — January 12, 2006

RICHARD D. REEL, age 90, of Abingdon, MD, died on January 12, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore. Born in Fawn Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Dewitt and Frances Chesney Reel, and he was the husband of the late Mary Eunice Wilderson Reel. Mr. Reel was an aircraft assembler who served his country in the US Army Airborne division in WWII, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW in Rosedale, and lived over the years in Texas and Colorado in addition to Maryland.

Mr. Reel is survived by his daughter, Sandra F. Hill of Hurst, TX; one grandson, Todd Richard of Bentonville, AR; and his devoted friend and companion, Mary Waitkus of Abingdon, MD.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Harvey Reel.
