Richard Daniel Campbell

December 17, 1945 — October 17, 2024

Richard Daniel (Dan) Campbell, age 78, of Joppa, Harford County, Maryland went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2024. His departure was sudden and unexpected but quick, just like he prayed it would be. Born in Fountain Green, Harford County, Maryland, where he grew up on a farm, Dan was the son of the late James and Charlette (Hildebrand) Campbell and husband of 47 years to the late Margie R. (Francis) Campbell. Dan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, who earned the National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and 2 Vietnam Defense Medals. He served his country with pride. After his honorable discharged from the military, Dan volunteered as a firefighter and paramedic with the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company, while serving the citizens of Harford County for over 40 years as a dedicated Materials Inspector III. He was devoted to his church, Salem United Methodist Church.

There was so much more to Dan than just Dad, though to his son that was his greatest roll - he was also a friend, a coworker and colleague, a cousin, brother, stand-in paternal figure to the fatherless. He was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. Dan was his family's biggest cheerleader in any activity that they were involved in. He was extremely knowledgeable and a people person, who enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, long walks, and having conversations with his family, friends, and neighbors. Dan will be missed by everyone he crossed paths for being the sweetest man.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded to heaven by his foster son, Gary D. Moore.

Dan is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian A. and Lillian L. Campbell; six grandchildren, Brian II, Joshua, Kristen, Alyssa, Ian, and Izabella Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Elena, Charlotte, and Aria, and his brothers, James, and Michael Campbell. He will forever be in their hearts and missed every day very much.

Dan’s greatest joys were his family whom he loved spending time with, and his Savior Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at 11am at Salem United Methodist Church, 7901 Bradshaw Rd, Upper Falls, MD 21156. Interment to follow at 12:30pm at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Dan requests donations be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 7901 Bradshaw Road, PO Box 192, Upper Falls, MD 21156; Disabled American Veterans 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD 21201; Kids Wish Network, Make-A-Wish® America, 1702 E.
