RICHARD BRIGGS HASKELL, age 77, of Perryman, MD, died on October 23, 2007 at Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born in Fort Eustis, VA, he was the son of the late Louis W. Haskell Sr. and the late Maud Briggs Haskell. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. During his time in the Army, he served in Korea, Vietnam, twice in Germany, and Guam. He attended Mt. Herman Prep School in Massachusetts and was a West Point graduate in 1952, being the second generation of Haskell’s to attend that academy. He lived in Nevada for 3 years, California for 16 years, and had been in Harford County for 12 years. He enjoyed golf and flying. He was a member of the West Point Alumni Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Silver Wings.
Mr. Haskell is survived by his wife of 52 years, May Haskell of Perryman, MD; two sons, Michael J. Walsh of Seabrook, SC and Thomas L. Haskell of Portal, GA; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Haskell of Walla Walla, WA and Loretta A. Cook of Perryman, MD; one brother Louis W. Haskell Jr. of Leesburg, FL; five grandchildren, Michael Walsh of Alabama, Joseph Walsh of Michigan, Emery C. Cook, Nathan H. Cook, and Samuel W. Cook all of Perryman, MD; and five great-grandchildren.
