Richard Temple Briggs

Richard Temple Briggs passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Dick Briggs was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 20, 1936. He grew up in Wyncote, PA and attended Cheltenham High School. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming an Eagle Scout.

Dick attended Lehigh University where he developed a number of lifetime passions. These included meeting his wife of 65 years Louise Briggs at a fraternity social event. They also included a love of Lehigh wrestling, lifetime bonds of Brotherhood through the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and a long involvement with the 1958 class reunion.

The majority of Dick's professional career was spent in commercial banking. He started his career in Pittsburgh, PA and Oreland, PA. The family settled in Fallston, MD. Dick became active in his son's (Todd and Brian) activities. A highlight was his involvement in the creation of the Athletic Service Building at Fallston High School.

In retirement Dick was passionate in his support of his four grandchildren: Tim, Samantha, Luke and Mike. His presence and positive encouragement as their number one supporter was always evident.

Family was also important to Dick. His sister Judy predeceased him and his brother John reside is Pocono Pines, PA, He was proud to welcome both Ellen and Jennie into the family bonds.

A service of remembrance will be held during the upcoming Holiday season.
