Richard Noble Barnes, age 76, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, passed away on January 7, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Bel Air, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Wilmer and Hilda (Dugger) Barnes. A lifelong resident of Bel Air, Richard had a deep connection to his roots, passionately researching his family lineage, which he discovered has been in Harford County since the 1700s.
An avid hunter, Richard particularly enjoyed hunting on the Susquehanna River, with his favorite method being body booting. His love for the outdoors was matched by his deep affection for dogs, especially Labrador retrievers. He trained these dogs with great care and dedication to a level of making Field Champions but also took pride in mentoring others who sought to train them as well.
Richard graduated from The University of Virginia and enjoyed a fulfilling career in engineering, specifically in bridge construction. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated and caring individual, leaving an impression on all those he met.
Richard is survived by his dear friend, Mike Hopkins of Churchville, MD, and his three children he considered his own: Alison Baker and her husband Jordan, Michael Tyler and his wife Krissy, and Clair Calvert Miller and her husband Grant.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
