REV. WILLIAM M. HOARD, age 88, of Aberdeen, MD, died on May 27, 2008 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation in Belcamp, MD. Born in St. Clair County, AL, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Eula Drummond Hoard. He preached more than 60 years before his retirement in the 1990's, and during that time, he received an award from the Potomac District Assemblies of God for 50 years of service as a minister. He pioneered several churches from Florida to Pennsylvania, and was pastor of Edgewood Assembly of God for 18 years. A block mason by trade, he was proud to use his abilities to help his churches. He loved to garden.
Rev. Hoard is survived by his wife, Louise M. Isom Hoard of Aberdeen, MD; two daughters, JoAnn Leatherland and her husband, William Earl Leatherland Sr., of Massena, NY and Patricia Pippin and her husband, Carl E. Pippin Sr., of Prince George, VA; four grandchildren, Tammy Lee Alexander of Petersburg, VA, Duane C. Stovall of Prince George, VA, William E. Leatherland Jr. of Buffalo, NY, and Jamie W. Stovall of Hopewell, VA; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Emma Elizabeth Hoard, a brother, J.D. Hoard, and a sister, Mary Baugh.
Pallbearers will be Carl Pippin, Duane Stovall, Jamie Stovall, Earl Leatherland Sr., Earl Leatherland Jr., and Earl Cox.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edgewood Assembly of God Building Fund, 803 Edgewood Road, Edgewood, MD 21040.
