REV. WILLARD P. DIXON, age 91, of Bel Air, MD, died peacefully at his home on May 28, 2007. He was born in Wilkes County, NC, to the late Daniel and Ida Bare Dixon. He was a pastor and preached at Trappe Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years and Hickory Baptist Church for 19 years. He also preached at many revivals on the East Coast. For many years he drove a school bus and worked at Lock Joint, Standard Equipment, and Sparker Fire Cracker Manufacturing in Havre de Grace, MD. He was an avid gardener.
Rev. Dixon is survived by his wife of 71 years, Leva Mae Miller Dixon of Bel Air, MD; two sons, Roger L. Dixon and his wife, Mary, of Bel Air, MD, and Ronald R. Dixon, Sr. and his wife, Susan, of Bel Air, MD; one daughter, Edith M. Coale and her husband, Ralph, of Bel Air, MD; two brothers, Jacob Dixon of Concord, NC, and Isaac Dixon of Laurel Springs, NC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Dixon was predeceased by seven brothers, William Dixon, Dayton Dixon, Namon Dixon, Ed Dixon, Daniel Dixon, Esau Dixon, and Paul Dixon, and one son, Robert P. Dixon.
Pallbearers will be Richard Dixon, Ronald Dixon, Jr., Larry Coale, Wayne Hamm, Benny Johnson, and Matt Hamilton.
