Rev. Wayne W. Swearingen

Reverend Wayne Webster Swearingen, age 93, of Bel Air, MD, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2018 at Brightview Assisted Living, Bel Air, MD.

Born in Rising Sun, MD, he was the son of the late Edward Swearingen and Ruth Grapes.
Wayne, a Navy veteran, served in World War II aboard the USS Strickland. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a Baptist Evangelist for 50 years. Wayne sold insurance out of the old Sears store on Main Street in Bel Air for 25 years. He and his brother were restaurant owners in California after the war. He also volunteered with the Red Cross for many years. Wayne’s biggest passion was living for the Lord. He loved to travel and loved to spend time with the family.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Margie “Pat” Swearingen, of 62 years and two daughters, Sherry Swearingen and Tricia Blocher.

He is survived by son, Terry Swearingen and wife, Marie, of Delta, PA; son-in-law, Barry Blocher of Green Valley, AZ, grandchildren, Keith Swearingen and wife, Amanda, and Brian Swearingen and wife, Nicole, both of Darlington, MD, Cole Adams of Bel Air, MD, Hannah Adams of Denver, CO, Kelli Blocher and Tricia Blocher, both of California, and Amber Sullivan of Red Lion, PA; and great-grandchildren Austin Green, Kaley Swearingen, Shelby Swearingen, Bailey Adams and Hannah Sullivan.
